Each Atlas comes with the same engine: a stout 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that generates 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It builds on the outgoing V-6 engine, offering improved throttling and an eight-speed automatic transmission that helps the engine feel a bit more motivated. While it’s not exceptionally light on its feet, the Atlas has a substantial towing capacity, able to tow up to 5,000 lbs with a trailer. No three-row SUV is particularly fuel efficient, but the Atlas is competitive in the segment, getting 20 mpg in the city and up to 27 mpg on the open road. The Atlas features a surprising amount of cargo space in the rear, with 20.6 cubic feet behind the third row for all your luggage. If you fold the rear row, that increases to 55.5 cubic feet, while folding both rear rows offers a total of 96.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The base-level SE has heated and ventilated front seats with leatherette on the surface, with a large infotainment display, wireless phone charging, and five-door keyless access.
