Where's your tread at? Rotations, tire wear, and more.
If you think about it, your tires are responsible for keeping you connected to the road. That's a pretty big deal, especially on long summer road trips. So, to make sure your tires haven't lost their grip, bring your car to an authorized Volkswagen Service Center for closer inspection. They'll check for tire tread wear, sidewall damage, tire pressure, balancing, and more. Rotations to replacements, count on your Volkswagen Certified Technicians for all your tire service needs and great tire deals this spring and summer.
Volkswagen Recommended Tires are specially matched to your vehicle's specific handling and performance requirements. Refer to your VW Online Owner's Manual for more info on which type of tire is right for your model.

When replacing tires, remember:
    • An improper or mismatched tire can contribute to a serious accident.
    • Mixing tire types can reduce their grip on the road and lead to less control.
    • Buy the size and type of tires specified by Volkswagen and recommended by your service dealer.

When is it time to replace your tires?
Big travel plans this spring and summer? We're sure the last thing on your mind is running into a tire-related issue on the road. But you can help avoid this potential setback by checking your tire tread for wear. The original tires on your Volkswagen have built-in wear indicators evenly spaced around the circumference of the tire.
    • When the tread on a tire is worn down to 2/32 of an inch, the tread wear indicator will appear, telling you it's time to visit your VW Service Center to replace that tire.
    • Another effective way to check a tire is to use a penny. Put the president's head in one of the treads. If part of his head is covered, you're okay. If you can see all of the president's head, it's time to replace that tire.
    • A worn tire can cause your vehicle to skid and hydroplane.
    • A tire showing cuts, bald spots, or other damage, may lead to tire failure and loss of vehicle control.
